14 years and counting – meet Senior Site Manager, Nik Davelis

From liaising with clients and ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget, to running a safe site, no two days are the same for Darwin Group’s experienced senior site managers.

We spoke to Nik Davelis, who has celebrated 14 years with the business this year, to learn more about his role and time with Darwin Group.

“Health and safety is always my top priority,” says Nik. “Part of my daily routine is to look after everyone’s health and safety on site, ensuring all work is carried out safely. I also ensure we minimise our work’s impact on others, including visitors, pedestrians, local residents and the environment.”
As part of his role, Nik liaises closely with Darwin Group’s NHS clients, including clinical staff and estates teams, to ensure the smooth running of the project. He works closely with his Darwin Group colleagues to flag potential problems and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. He also communicates with local residents to keep them up to date with project progress and reduce the chance of any inconveniences.

“It’s a role that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed over the years. Darwin Group has given me the platform to express my trade knowledge and management skills, and to gain and expand my knowledge of the Modular industry.”

During the 14 years he’s worked for Darwin Group, Nik says he’s seen a number of positive changes.

“We’ve expanded from a relatively small company to the great company we are today, and I feel blessed to have been part of that journey. Although the ambition of our directors was clear to see in the early years, I would never have thought we would be where we are today.

“We’ve delivered so many great projects during that time, with the focus in recent years entirely on high-quality, high-spec buildings for the NHS. It’s a great achievement for everyone who’s been involved.”
